This comprehensive masonry project was undertaken to address a residential paver driveway in New Rochelle, New York, which was suffering from settlement, aesthetic damage, and critical drainage issues that compromised its structural integrity. The work began with a rigorous assessment and preparation phase, involving strategic excavation and the controlled removal of deteriorated pavers and the damaged underlying base—particularly in areas adjacent to the existing linear drainage grate system, where trenches were excavated to facilitate thorough cleaning and preparation. After establishing a new, solid base of compacted aggregate and masonry sand to ensure precise leveling, the drainage system was re-positioned, re-leveled, and installed to guarantee optimal water flow and effectively redirect water away from the driveway. Finally, new high-quality rectangular pavers were meticulously installed; selected to complement the existing design, they were cut with geometric precision around the drainage grate to create clean edges and defined transitions. These elements were then sealed with high-strength mortar to achieve a uniform, safe, and aesthetically superior surface that protects the homeowner's investment for the long term.
